Sachin Tendulkar has been reportedly appointed as the global brand ambassador of the much-awaited ICC World Cup 2023 by the ICC. The cricketer, who boasts a colossal fan following all over the world, is expected to attract more excitement to the already-anticipated tournament in India.

Tendulkar, a World Cup legend himself, lifted the coveted trophy for the first time in 2011, i.e., during the twilight of his international career. Despite announcing his retirement from the game in 2013, the cricketer was also involved with the 2015 and 2019 World Cup events in some capacity for the ICC. While he served as the ambassador of the 2015 World Cup in Australia, he was invited by the apex body to the finals of both tournaments.

As global brand ambassador of the 2023 World Cup, Sachin Tendulkar will be seen walking out with the trophy prior to the opening match of the competition between New Zealand and defending champions England.

The match between the two 2019 finalists will be hosted by the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The much-awaited contest is slated to be played on October 5.

Meanwhile, hosts India will launch their campaign with a match against Australia on October 8 in Chennai.
