As per emerging reports, veteran Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is likely to be fit for the second Test against South Africa in Cape Town. The ace cricketer missed out on the first Test match owing to a neck spasm, with his spin-bowling partner Ravichandran Ashwin replacing him at number seven in the Indian batting lineup.

Furthermore, India kept Shardul Thakur at number eight in order to have a deep batting unit, which eventually surrendered before the rampant Proteas attack on day 3 of the game.

The spectators present at SuperSport Park in Centurion witnessed Jadeja’s involvement in the intense practice sessions and fielding drills conducted prior to the start of day 3.

The left-arm spinner even delivered several overs in the nets without any noticeable discomfort in his neck. He was also accurate with his line and length and is, therefore, expected to replace Ashwin in the Cape Town Test, a must-win game for India to avoid series defeat.

Meanwhile, in another notable development, India have also added Avesh Khan to their squad for the second Test. The pacer replaces Mohammed Shami, who has been ruled out of the tour due to an ankle injury.

The second Test between India and South Africa will be played at Newlands in Cape Town on January 3.
