The retention rules for IPL 2025 are finally out, and BCCI has allowed each franchise to retain a maximum of six players. They can retain those players before the mega-auction or buy them back via an RTM card during the auction. So, it is time for all franchises to get their act together and bring out their best possible retention list.
Rajasthan Royals, the inaugural champions of IPL, have made some significant changes ahead of the mega auction. Rahul Dravid is their new head coach while Vikram Rathour has been appointed as the batting coach, so the star duo of India's T20 World Cup win is back together for RR, and they have now started their act with RR revealing an exciting clip on their social media handle.
New Head Coach Rahul Dravid Leads Retention Discussion
Rajasthan Royals' official X handle has unleashed a short 20-second clip in which Rahul Dravid is seen sitting with other team members. The video further shows that the management is now busy discussing the future of RR, with Kumar Sangakkara also present virtually. It ends with the 'Retentions 2025' title to indicate that the mega auction preparation has started.
RR Set To Retain Captain Sanju Samson
Rajasthan Royals qualified for the playoffs in the 2024 edition of IPL, and also made it to the final in the 2022 season. So, in the last cycle, they had a pretty solid team, so the decision to select only six players or even less is likely to be pretty tough for the management. Sanju Samson, Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal are almost certain to be retained before the auction while the likes of Chahal, Riyan Parag, Sandeep Sharma could be brought back using RTM cards. There are also likes of Trent Boult, Ashwin, Hetmyer and Dhruv Jurel who can be retained, and it would be interesting to see how RR go about their retention strategy.
