In a massive setback for South Africa, fast bowler Nandre Burger and dependable batter Tony de Zorzi have been ruled out of the third ODI against India. As confirmed by Cricket South Africa (CSA), Burger won't feature in the decider at Vizag, while De Zorzi and young speedster Kwena Maphaka have been sidelined from the remainder of the India tour, including the T20I series, due to injury.

On Saturday morning, CSA confirmed that Nandre Burger wouldn't feature in South Africa's third ODI against India, with a right hamstring injury ruling him out of the fixture. Batter Tony de Zorzi has also been sidelined from the entire tour due to a hamstring injury, while left-arm pacer Kwena Maphaka failed to recover a left hamstring injury, which has ruled him out of the upcoming T20I series.

While no replacement has been announced for De Zorzi, South Africa have called up right-arm pacer Lutho Sipamla to fill Maphaka's void. Burger blew hot and cold in the first two ODIs of the series. The left-arm pacer bagged three wickets at an ordinary strike rate of 32 and an economy of 6.68, with the tracks in Ranchi and Raipur heavily favouring the batting sides.

Meanwhile, Tony de Zorzi failed to convert his starts into significant scores in two successive games, managing only 56 runs at an average of 28 and a strike rate of 121.74.

On the other hand, Maphaka was a part of South Africa's T20I squad that will take on India in a five-match series, starting on December 9. In his absence, South Africa's fast bowling department has further weakened and will be led by Baartman, Ngidi and Nortje.
