Royal London One-Day Cup 2022 | Group A Round-up, August 21

The Royal London One-Day Cup 2022 season continued on August 21 with two Group A fixtures. Here is a look at the high points from each of those fixtures. 

Warwickshire vs Durham  

The Bears rode on a stellar bowling performance to decimate Durham by 48 runs in the low-scoring fixture on Sunday at Birmingham. Batting first, Warwickshire could manage only 275 runs for the loss of six wickets, thanks to Dom Sibley's dogged 113-run knock. 

In the second half of the game, Oliver Hannon-Dalby wreaked havoc with the ball and left the Durham batters gasping for breath. The right-arm quick took as many as four wickets in his nine overs spell. Liam Norwell and Will Rhode also took two wickets each as Durham skittled out for 227 in 45.1 overs.   

Warwickshire, following this victory now find themselves placed fifth in the Group A points standings and are still in contention to make it to the Royal London Cup knockout stage.

Warwickshire won by 48 runs. 

Middlesex vs Gloucestershire  

The match between Gloucestershire and Middlesex turned out to be one-way traffic with the former emerging victorious by five wickets. 

After winning the toss and opting to bat first, Middlesex grafted their way to 256 for nine at the end of the 50 overs. Pieter Malan top-scored with 81 off 109 while Sam Robson also played a valuable knock of 82-ball 59. 

For Gloucestershire, Zafar Gohar was the most successful bowler, having picked up a four-wicket haul while conceding just 38 runs in his 10 overs quota. Paul van Meekeran and Ajeet Dale also got a couple of wickets each. 

Gloucestershire, in reply, rode on Ben Charlesworth's 97-run knock and Marcus Harris's half-century to overhaul the target with 47.1 overs and five wickets in hand. 

This victory has taken Gloucestershire to the third spot in the Group A points table of the ongoing Royal London One-Day Cup 2022 and they are still in contention to make it to the playoffs.
