A day after their close defeat in the third Test at Lord’s, the Indian men’s cricket team had a special moment off the field. Led by captain Shubman Gill and head coach Gautam Gambhir, the team visited St. James’s Palace in London on Tuesday, where they were warmly received by King Charles III.

India had a heartbreaking outing at Lord’s Cricket Ground on July 14 as they lost the third Test against England by just 22 runs. A gritty fight from Ravindra Jadeja went in vain as the hosts took a 2-1 lead in the 5-game series.

Meanwhile, a day after the entertaining Test match concluded, the Indian cricket team and coaching staff were invited to St. James’s Palace to meet King Charles III of the Royal Family.

The meeting was held in the beautiful Clarence House Garden, where the players and support staff were introduced to the King by BCCI officials, including secretary Devajit Saikia and vice president Rajeev Shukla.

In a video posted by the ANI news agency, the atmosphere was relaxed and cheerful, with the King sharing a few laughs with the Indian players and also discussing the dramatic end to the Lord’s Test match.

Apart from the men’s Test, the King also met the women’s team, who are touring England for a white-ball series against England.

Shubman Gill Sums Up His Experience Of Meeting King Charles

After the royal visit, Indian Test captain Shubman Gill, taking to ANI, revealed that King Charles III expressed sympathy over the way Mohammed Siraj got out in the final innings. Siraj was bowled in an unlucky manner, with the ball rolling onto the stumps.

"It was amazing to meet King Charles and he was very kind and generous to call us. We had some really good conversations. King Charles told us that the way our last batsman got out in the previous test match was quite unfortunate, the ball rolling on the stumps...We told him that it was an unfortunate match for us and could have gone either ways. Hopefully, we will have better luck in both the next games," Gill said.

Meanwhile, after a high-pressure Lord’s Test, both India and England will enjoy a week-long break. The fourth Test will be held at Old Trafford on July 23.
