In the 2006 U19 Cricket World Cup, arch rivals India and Pakistan faced each other. In a low-scoring thriller, India were bowled out with 71 runs, resulting in a humiliating defeat.

On February 19, 2006, Pakistan won the toss and decided to bat first. But their top order did not fare well against India's spin pair of Ravindra Jadeja and Piyush Chawla.

Rameez Raja Jr. was the top-scorer with 25 runs, with 18 from Nasir Jamshed as Pakistan fell to 109 all out.

Chawla was the standout bowler for India, claiming four wickets, while Jadeja picked up three. Rohit Sharma also picked up a wicket each.

When India crumbled against Pakistan in the final

However, Pakistan’s bowlers had other plans. The innings got off to a disastrous start for India when opener Gaurav Dhiman was bowled on the very first ball by Jamshed Ahmed.

Things worsened as Cheteshwar Pujara fell for a golden duck, trapped by Anwar Ali.

Rohit Sharma soon followed, cleaned up by Jamshed Ahmed on 4 off 7 balls, as India found themselves reeling at 9/6.

Despite a brief resistance from Piyush Chawla and Pinal Shah, India struggled to build partnerships.

Akhtar Ayub wrapped up the innings, dismissing Shah and Mohnish Parmar to complete an emphatic bowling performance.

India was bowled out for just 71 runs leading to a 38-run massive defeat. With that, Pakistan lifted the U19 Cricket World Cup trophy, leaving Rohit Sharma and co. highly embarrassed.

India-Pakistan to face off in 2025 Champions Trophy

The intense rivalry between India and Pakistan will resume on February 23, 2025, as the two nations clash in the Champions Trophy 2025.

Since the tournament has been shifted to a hybrid model, team India won't travel to host nation Pakistan and instead will play in Dubai. The hype is already built as fans await the blockbuster encounter.
