Hardik Pandya has extended his best wishes to the Indian team ahead of their forthcoming World Cup 2023 final against Australia. The star all-rounder was initially a part of India’s starting XI before succumbing to an ankle injury during the team’s league fixture against Bangladesh.

Pandya was subsequently ruled out of the tournament, which prompted the team management to fast-track Mohammed Shami into the playing XI.

Hardik Pandya extends wishes for Indian team

As Hardik Pandya continues to make a full recovery from his ankle injury, the all-round maverick has extended his best wishes for his Indian teammates ahead of their 2023 World Cup final against Australia. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the senior cricketer stated that he is proud of the Indian team and credited years of hard work for their recent success in the tournament.

Pandya also added that lifting the World Cup is something they have dreamt of as children and are now just a step away from attaining peak glory in their sporting careers. The 30-year-old said:

“I could not be prouder of this team. Everything we have done so far, how far we have come is a credit to the years of hard work behind us. We are now one step away from glory, from doing something special which we have dreamt of since we were children. Lifting the World Cup not just for ourselves, but also for the billion people behind us. Always with you with my love, all my heart, now let’s bring the cup home.”

Team India will enter the contest off the back of an unbeaten run, considering Rohit Sharma and his troops are yet to lose a single game in the ongoing tournament. Incidentally, their winning streak launched with a match against Australia in Chennai, where clutch run-chase knocks from Virat Kohli and KL Rahul guided Team India to a six-wicket win.

The ‘Men in Blue’ registered emphatic run-chase wins in subsequent fixtures against Afghanistan, Pakistan, Bangladesh and New Zealand before trouncing England, Sri Lanka, South Africa and Netherlands upon batting first.

The upcoming World Cup 2023 final will be hosted by the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on November 19.
