The Indian team, under Rohit Sharma, is currently in Australia for the T20 World Cup 2022. The ‘Men in Blue’ will commence their campaign with a high-octane clash against arch-rivals Pakistan on October 23.

The tournament marks Sharma’s first as India's leader in an ICC event, ever since he took over the role from Virat Kohli last year. The cricketer spoke about the team's mindset ahead of the imminent match against Pakistan and highlighted India's trophy drought in ICC events.

In a video uploaded by BCCI, the Indian skipper expressed his excitement of leading the team for the first time in a World Cup.

The opening batter claimed that they will not be thinking ahead of themselves, but instead tackle the challenges one match at a time.

Rohit Sharma excited to lead India in the World Cup

"It's been a while since we have won the World Cup. Obviously, the motive and the whole thought process is to win it but we know we need to do a lot of things right to get there. So, once step at a time for us. We can't think too far ahead,"

"It's a big honour to captain. This is my first World Cup as captain so I'm pretty excited. It also gives us a great opportunity to come here and do something special. Every time you come for the World Cup, it's a great feeling."
