In a significant update in the ICC men’s player rankings, India’s Rohit Sharma has returned to the top spot for ODI batters, while Zimbabwe’s Sikandar Raza has become the No.1 ranked T20I all-rounder for the first time in his career.
Raza has been in excellent form for Zimbabwe during the ongoing tri-series involving Sri Lanka and hosts Pakistan, earning him the career-high ranking in the T20I all-rounder list. In the Tri-series, the Zimbabwe star has played four innings and has made 141 runs at the strike rate of 136.89 and an average of 47.00.
Rohit Sharma returns to ODI throne
Meanwhile, in the ODI rankings, Rohit Sharma has reclaimed the No. 1 position from New Zealander Daryl Mitchell. Mitchell had to miss the last two matches of New Zealand’s ODI series against the West Indies at home, resulting in a drop in rating points and allowing Rohit to overtake him.
It is important to note that the former Indian captain made the one-spot gain and jumped to the number one spot with a 781 rating points. In the second place is Daryl Mitchell with 766 points. West Indies's Shai Hope is currently at the 8th spot with 701 rating points.
However, Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill have maintained their position in the latest ODI Rankings. The star player is placed at the 5th position, and the captain, Gill, is at the 4th position.
In the T20I rankings, Abhishek Sharma has still maintained the No. 1 spot in the batting list with 920 points. England's Phil Salt has maintained the 2nd position. On the other hand, it is vital to note that Sahibzada Farhan has jumped eight spots to fourth position with 776.
After India's shambolic loss against South Africa in the Test, the will next face the Proteas in ODIs, and Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will be seen playing for the 'Men in Blue'.
