India's T20 World Cup-winning skipper Rohit Sharma finally took to Instagram to pen an emotional and heartfelt note for coach Rahul Dravid just days after soaring the World Cup victory.

Former cricketer, Dravid had a celebrated career; however, it was the T20WC that always eluded him because he was unfortunately not part of the 2007 World Cup-winning team.

Back in December, when India had a heartbreaking loss in the 2023 ODI World Cup, Dravid was ready to put in his papers; however, it was Rohit Sharma who called him up and forced him to continue for one more ICC tournament.

Who could have predicted such a triumphant campaign? Under the astute guidance of their head coach, Rahul Dravid, India went undefeated and clinched the 2024 T20 World Cup trophy in Barbados on 29 June.

In his soul-stirring message, Rohit hilariously calls Dravid his 'work wife' and says that he's lucky to be able to call him that. He also talked about how this was the only thing missing from his arsenal and that he is absolutely delighted to have been able to achieve it for him.

Rohit Sharma's Emotional Post For Rahul Dravid:

Here's what he wrote:

Dear Rahul bhai,

I have been trying to find the right words to properly express my feelings on this but I’m not sure I ever will so here’s my attempt.

Since my childhood days I have looked up to you just like billions of others but I was lucky enough to get to work with you this closely. You are an absolute stalwart of this game but you left all of your accolades and achievements at the door and walked in as our coach and came on a level where we all felt comfortable enough to say just about anything to you. That is your gift, your humility and your love for this game even after all this time. I have learnt so much from you and every memory will be cherished. My wife refers to you as my work wife and I’m lucky to get to call you that too 😊

This was the only thing missing from your arsenal and I’m so happy that we got to achieve it together. Rahul bhai it has been an absolute privilege to get to call you my confidant, my coach and my friend 🫡

While, the T20 WC was Rahul Dravid's last assignment as the Indian head coach, there are several reports suggesting that he has been approached by Kolkata Knight Riders to become their mentor in IPL 2025 season. In his place, Gautam Gambhir will reportedly be the next coach of the Indian cricket team.
