The Champions Trophy 2025 is just around the corner and the first match of the tournament will feature the the hosts, Pakistan up against New Zealand from the National Stadium in Karachi. Once the hosts deal with the Kiwis, their next challenge will be against the arch-rivals India on February 23.
RO-KO devise special plan for Shaheen
Both the sides are favourites to reach the semis from their group, but the clash against each other could decide the fate of the competition. India, in recent years have been dominant against Pakistan in 50-over matches and defeated them in Asia Cup and World Cup games. However, the team feels they need to counter one major Pakistan threat and that is Shaheen Afridi.
The left-arm speedster has been one of the best limited overs bowlers in the world and has all the tools in the world to trouble the Indian batters, especially Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. To counter this threat, the Indian duo of Kohli and Rohit urged the team management to give them left-arm pacers to practice before the big game.
As per Sports Yaari, the duo are trying their best to negate Shaheen's threat and have called in a local UAE bowler, who knows the Dubai conditions at the back of his hands.
Kohli, Rohit hold the key for India
Despite boasting some big names in the squad, the experience that Rohit and Kohli bring on the table is unrivalled. They both have wealth of experience and are two of the most prolific batters in the team.
In the recent ODI series, Rohit scored a blistering hundred in the 2nd ODI, while Kohli came back to form with a quick-fire fifty in the series finale.
