Roger Binny appointed as the new BCCI President

Amid the ongoing 91st BCCI Annual General Meeting, Roger Binny has been appointed as the 36th BCCI President unopposed succeeding Sourav Ganguly whose tenure has come to an end.

Arun Singh Dhumal, current BCCI Treasurer has been elected as IPL Chairman, who will take over the post from Brijesh Patel. In his place, BJP MLA Ashish Shelar has been given the charge.

As per ANI, current BCCI secretary Jay Shah will continue to hold the office at the same post, for the continuous second term.

After his appointed Binny said,

"As the BCCI president, I want to primarily focus on 2 things. First is the prevention of injuries to the players. Jasprit Bumrah got injured just before the World Cup, which affects the whole plan. Second, I want to focus on the pitches in the country."

Binny is only the 3rd Test cricketer after Ganguly and Maharaja of Vizianagaram to hold the position of the Apex Body's President. He was instrumental during India's 1983 World Cup victory has donned the Indian jersey 72 times in ODI's and 27 times in Tests, scalping a total of 124 wickets. 

Recently, he was involved with Karnataka State Cricket Association as the President of the state association and will now step down from his post to join the National setup.
