Alana King and Taneale Peschel proved good enough for Hobart Hurricanes, who surrendered their innings on 109. Scorchers eased home with contributions from Beth Mooney, Chloe Piparo and Maddy Green, who finished the job in 14.1 overs.

Bowlers demonstrate class

Asked to bat first, Hobart lost the plot very early in their innings when they lost the wicket of their skipper Elyse Villani (0) in the first over and soon after, Rachel Trenaman followed her path with the score being just 13.

With 28 for three down, Heather Graham tried to rescue the innings with her 28-ball 35 while wickets kept tumbling at the other end, however, she too fell inside the fourteenth over with the score being 75/6. Hobart ended their innings on the score of 109/9 after their 20 overs with no significant contribution from others.

Alana King and Taneale Peschel were the chief destroyers with three wickets each while giving runs under an economy of 4.

Perth reaches home within 15 overs

Chasing a meagre target of 110, Perth too lost their skipper Sophie Devine early with just five runs on the board. However, Beth Mooney (38) and Chloe Piparo (31) took charge to stitch a fine 54-run stand when the latter departed with scorecard showing 59/2 and still 51 away from victory.

In came batter Maddy Green played a nice 16-ball 32-run cameo to take her team past the finish line. After that, Molly Strano and Ruth Johnston took one wicket a piece, which was never going to be enough.

Brief Scores:

Hobart Hurricanes Women: 109/9 (20 Overs)

Heather Graham 35 (28), Nicola Carey 12 (14);
Taneale Peschel 3/13 (4), Alana King 3/15 (4)
