West Indies Legends kicked off their Road Safety World Series 2022 campaign with a dominating performance as they thumped their Bangladesh counterparts by 6 wickets at Green Park, Kanpur on Sunday.

Batting first, Bangladesh Legends could only manage 98 runs in 19.4 overs thanks to a brilliant bowling performance from Windies-led by seamer Krishmar Santokie.

Bangladesh were rocked very early in their innings as their top-3- Nazmus Sadat, Nazimuddin & Tushar Imran- for single digits in the 7th over, with Santokie and Marlon Black going bang bang in their opening spells.

The middle-trio of Aftab Ahmed (13 off 15) Alok Kapali (19 off 20), D Ghosh (22* off 27)- did save Bangladesh Legends from embarrassment but none of them could thrust any sort of momentum to the innings thanks to the spin duo of Sulieman Benn (2/20 in 4), Devendra Bishoo (1/23 in 4) & D Mohammed (2/22 in 3)

They were eventually knocked over for 98 in the final over, with Santokie signing off with astounding figures that read: 2.4-0-7-3.

Dwayne Smith spearheaded the run-chase for West Indies Legends

A target as low as 99 was never going to bother a power-packed West Indies batting-unit. And, it didn't.

Swashbuckling opener Dwayne Smith spearheaded the run-chase with a 42-ball 51. Smith smashed 9 fours and a six before getting trapped LBW by Alok Kapali.

They did lose a few wickets in the middle-overs but it didn't matter though as Kirk Edwards (22* off 19) took stock of the situation.

The inevitable finally happened on the 2nd delivery of the 16th over when wicketkeeper William Perkins smashed Kapali for a 6 over mid-wicket.

West Indies Legends will now lock horns with India Legends on 14th September while Bangladesh will take on New Zealand Legends on the following day.

Bangladesh Legends 98/10 (19.2)
