Virat Kohli ended his century-drought with an imperial 122* against Afghanistan in India’s final Asia Cup 2022 fixture. In an otherwise disappointing campaign for Rohit Sharma and co., Kohli’s return to his prime self was one of the biggest positives for the ‘Men in Blue’.

Scott Styris looking forward to seeing Kohli in confrontational mode again

Former New Zealand all-rounder Scott Styris praised Kohli for his prolific Asia Cup 2022 run. The Indian batter scored 276 runs across five innings with two half-centuries and a ton, the latter of which ended his three-year wait for an international hundred.

Styris believes the Indian batter has finally gotten the monkey off his back and should continue batting through his old aggressive mindset. The cricketer-turned-commentator is of the opinion that Kohli plays best cricket when he is in a confrontational mode against his opponents.

Speaking on the Star Sports Network, Styris said:

“He got the monkey off the back and he has been very thankful and blessed. I have been waiting to see him get back to that abrasive and really aggressive, in the face of the opposition mindset. I want to see him go back to that mode. That's when he has played his best cricket.

“Now that he has gotten the hundred, does he look to be confrontational against the likes of Starc, Cummins and others? I am fascinated by this.”
