In a major boost to Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) leading up to the second half of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season, Afghanistan pacer Fazalhaq Farooqi is set to join the squad after ACB agrees to grant him NOC for the remainder of the tournament.

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), under the leadership of sound captain Pat Cummins, is poised to qualify for the playoffs this year after an aggressive start to the IPL 2024 season.

The batting unit's onslaught hasn't stopped as they have unlocked 200+ runs total milestone three times already, including the highest-ever team total in IPL's history.

That being said, with the second leg of the season on the horizon, SRH are set to get a massive boost in form of Afghanistan fast bowler Fazalhaq Farooqi.

SRH had retained Farooqi earlier this year. However, a showdown with the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) led to the withdrawal of his NOC.

The controversy broke out when Farooqi expressed that he did not want a central contract. That irked ACB as they stripped his NOCs before the pacer took a U-turn to confirm his intentions of representing Afghanistan in the future.

Following a truce, ACB granted Farooqi the required NOC documents, and subsequently, the pacer boarded the next flight to India to join SRH for the remainder of the IPL season.

Notably, SRH's bowling unit suffered a massive blow earlier when Sri Lankan spin wizard Wanindu Hasaranga was ruled out for the entirety of the season, citing chronic heel pain. Hence, Fazalhaq Farooqi's addition couldn't have come at the much better time for SRH.
