In a significant development, the much-anticipated open bus victory parade for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) has been cancelled due to traffic congestion concerns in the city, Bengaluru Police confirmed earlier today.

RCB, ended an 18-year-long wait to lift their first-ever IPL title after a thrilling six-run win over Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the IPL 2025 Final. The original celebration was open-top bus procession to mark the occasion. The parade was scheduled to begin at 3:30 PM IST, starting from Vidhana Soudha and culminating at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.

No Victory Parade For RCB

However, in a late change to the plans, authorities confirmed that the parade was being called off to avoid worsening the already congested Central Business District (CBD) traffic. Instead, a felicitation ceremony will now be held inside the Chinnaswamy Stadium between 5 PM and 6 PM, with restricted entry for those holding valid passes or invitations.

In a public advisory issued in Kannada and English, police urged citizens to avoid roads around Vidhana Soudha and Chinnaswamy Stadium from 3 PM to 8 PM, citing heavy traffic and crowd buildup. Authorities also pointed to limited parking availability in the CBD as one of the crucial reason for not holding the parade.

Revised Celebratory Plan For RCB

  • RCB players and staff will meet the Honourable Chief Minister of Karnataka, Siddaramaiah, at Vidhana Soudha earlier in the afternoon.
  • They will then travel directly to the stadium for the felicitation function.
  • Due to limited parking, the public has been strongly advised to use Metro services and other forms of public transport.
  • The Bengaluru Traffic Police has issued a traffic advisory, asking commuters to avoid roads near the Chinnaswamy Stadium and Vidhana Soudha from 3 PM to 8 PM.
