Yash Dayal, one of the standout performers for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) has thanked Virat Kohli for his immense support throughout the IPL 2024 season.

For context, Dayal had a horror show against Rinku Singh and Kolkata Knight Riders in the 2023 season. Playing for Gujarat Titans, Dayal had 29 runs to defend in the final over, but what was a seemingly easy total to defend, turned out to be a nightmare for the bowler.

Dayal conceded five sixes in a row to Rinku Singh as KKR snatched victory from the jaws of defeat. The left-arm seamer faced the wrath of the people and he also went into depression.

 The following season, GT released him, and it was Kohli's RCB, who showed faith in him and bought the youngster in their side.

In an interview with Sports Tak, Dayal talked about how Kohli motivated him for the season and stated that the narrative of Kohli being rude and aggressive is far from truth.

"The biggest thing he said to me was that they would back me for the entire season and I will not feel as an outsider in the team. They backed me wholeheartedly in the entire season that was a booster for me. He interacts with youngsters in the same way like others and What people talk on TV about him I didn't feel that with him," said Dayal.

Dayal was instrumental in RCB's run to the Eliminator of IPL 2024. In 14 matches, he picked up 15 wickets, at an economy of 9.15, as RCB reached the knockouts after failing to reach in the previous season.
