Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) overcame Royal Challengers Bengaluru's (RCB) insurgence by one run in match number 36 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season after charting 222-6 upfront. 

Opener Phil Salt bashed 48 from just 14 balls while captain Shreyas Iyer crafted a steady half-century with the bat. Middle-order stars Venkatesh Iyer, Andre Russell, Rinku Singh and Ramandeep Singh also listed valiant contributions at the Eden Gardens against RCB’s struggling bowling attack.

Following the conclusion of the last-ball thriller between the two sides, a hilarious clip involving KKR’s Venkatesh Iyer made rounds across social media, where the 29-year-old can be seen praising RCB’s bowling composition while being unable to control his laughter.


Venkatesh Iyer mocks RCB bowling attack

Prior to KKR’s home IPL 2024 fixture against RCB on April 21, Venkatesh Iyer caught up with commentators where he discussed the visitor’s bowling attack. 

While he seemingly praised RCB’s bowling arsenal, he also tried (unsuccessfully) to control his laughter, thus indirectly signifying the team’s recent struggles with the ball.

Compatible to Venkatesh Iyer’s indirect claims, RCB’s bowling attack has let down the franchise a number of times this IPL 2024 season. 

Moreover, SRH amassed IPL’s record total of 287 against RCB bowlers a week prior to their KKR clash.

The Faf du Plessis-led RCB will now once again face the SRH, this time in match number 41 of the tournament on April 25. The much-awaited contest will be staged at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.
