The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) continues to rule social media as the Virat Kohli-starrer team became the most popular IPL franchise online for the fifth consecutive year. As per analytical platforms Social Insider and SEM Rush, the RCB franchise generated over two billion social media engagements across Twitter, YouTube, Instagram and Facebook.

Notably, the franchise has 25 percent higher engagement than the second placed Chennai Super Kings.

RCB continues to rule social media

The RCB became the most popular IPL franchise on social media for the fifth successive year as it continues to set a new standard in sports media. Apart from topping the IPL social media charts, the RCB also finds itself among the five global sports teams alongside football powerhouses like Read Madrid and Barcelona.

In terms of IPL, the RCB franchise finds itself 25 percent ahead in social media engagements than second-placed Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

In terms of head-to-head battles, the RCB franchise falls far behind the CSK team, considering the Virat Kohli-starred side has registered just 11 wins and sustained 21 defeats out of their 32 meetings against the five-time IPL winners.

While the Bengaluru-based T20 team is yet to lift a single IPL trophy, the RCB’s Women’s contingent lifted the WPL 2024 title last year under the leadership of charismatic Indian opener Smriti Mandhana.

Nonetheless, the RCB men’s team will receive another opportunity to lift the coveted silverware through the upcoming IPL 2025 season. The franchise recently made some new recruits at the IPL 2025 mega auction back in November a couple of months ago. While the likes of Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar and Yash Dayal were retained prior to the auction, the franchise roped in cricketers like Phil Salt, Tim David, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Romario Shepherd among others during the bidding event.
