England has announced their U19 World Cup squad for the 2026 edition, as they will once again look to end their wait to lift the first U19 title since last winning the competition back in 1998 under Owais Shah, where Graeme Swann was also among the stars in the squad. Since that time, the Three Lions have only managed to reach one final in 2022.
For the upcoming edition, the 18-year-old Somerset wicketkeeper batter Thomas Rew has been appointed as the captain, while Farhan Ahmed, the 17-year-old brother of Rehan, will be his deputy. The latter notably also led the side during their recent seven-match series vs West Indies.
Key players to watch out
The star batters of this team Ben Dawkins and Caleb Falconer from Kent and Middlesex, respectively have also found a spot in the squad, as expected. One of the key names missing from this roster is the 17-year-old Middlesex medium pacer Jack Nelson, who got 8 wickets in 4 matches of the aforementioned series.
Having just turned 17, Lancashire bowler Luke Hands, alongside 18-year-old all-rounder Ralphie Albert and top-order player Isaac Mohammed will be the others to watch out.
"We have a balanced squad with a core group of players who already have county experience and who have developed a camaraderie while playing together for the U19s that will serve them well during the tournament. I really want the players to enjoy the opportunity to play at a World Cup, in a beautiful country like Zimbabwe, and to embrace the chance to compete against different countries and show their quality," said the coach Mike Yardy.
