In a huge setback to the Indian cricket team ahead of the second Test game against England in Visakhapatnam, star all-rounder, Ravindra Jadeja is reeling under a hamstring injury, which is unlikely to heal in time for the upcoming game.

India lost the series inaugural Test to England in Hyderabad inside four days on Sunday. Despite leading the game with 190 runs at one stage, the bowlers allowed the Englishmen back in the game on day 3.

Regardless, the five-game series is still wide open as both sides are scheduled to travel to Visakhapatnam on Tuesday. However, ahead of the big travel day, the Indian camp has been hit with concerning news.

Apparently, star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja picked up a hamstring injury on Day 4 of the Hyderabad Test. The incident in question occurred when Ben Stokes ran Jadeja out with a fiery direct hit, and the all-rounder, in a bid to reach the crease in time, pulled his hamstring.

Not only that, Jadeja looked in visible discomfort while making his way back to the dressing room. When head coach Rahul Dravid was quizzed about the same in post-game press conference, he had no viable information whatsoever.

Meanwhile, Cricbuzz spoke to a source who confirmed that Ravindra Jadeja went through a scan, and the reports were sent to a medical institute in Mumbai for further evaluation.

The opinion about the severity of the 69-Test veteran’s injury is expected to be received by Monday evening, and accordingly, the coaching staff will take a final call.

Notably, the source told Cricbuzz that it is highly plausible for Jadeja to miss the Visakhapatnam Test since the gap of four days won’t be enough to treat a hamstring pull.

Having said that, Jadeja is expected to be fit for the third Test since prima facie ruled out a hamstring tear.

Meanwhile, in a scenario where Ravindra Jadeja gets ruled out, Rohit Sharma will face an uphill task to fill the big shoes. While Kuldeep Yadav has emerged as an immediate ideal replacement, the void of Jadeja’s batting prowess will be largely felt by the dispirited Indian side.
