In an interesting development, it has been reported that Ravichandran Ashwin will register for the auction of the International League T20 (ILT20) 2025-26. The move has been reported by Cricbuzz, and if bought in the auction, the off-spinner will be the fourth Indian player to feature in the league.
Ravi Ashwin Likely To Start His Journey In Franchise Leagues With ILT20
The Indian legend recently announced his retirement from the Indian Premier League. There are also reports that he would feature in the Hundred and Major League Cricket. Cricbuzz has also stated that Ashwin is looking for a player-cum-coach role in international leagues around the world.
As far as his involvement in ILT20 is concerned, it is believed that he is in discussions with the organisers and his name is likely to be included in the auction list soon. The last date to enroll for the auction is September 10, and the event is scheduled to take place on the 30th of the same month.
Also, Ravichandran Ashwin has confirmed his availability for ILT20 2025-26 auction and has expressed hope of getting a buyer.
"Yes, I am in talks with the organisers. Hopefully, I will have a buyer if I register for the auction" Ashwin told Cricbuzz.
Ashwin Set To Start New Chapter After Retirement
So far, Robin Utthapa, Yusuf Pathan and Ambati Rayudu are the only Indians to take part in the ILT20. Out of them, Rayudu is the only one who has been part of the playing XI, and Ashwin's involvement would be a new landmark for Indian players' participation in the league.
Ravi Ashwin is considered as one of the modern-day greats of Indian cricket. The cricketer has 765 international wickets to his name and has played for five different franchises in the IPL. He retired from international cricket midway through BGT 2024-25 and is now set to start a new chapter in his glorious cricket journey.
