As Sourav Ganguly's tenure as the BCCI president is approaching its termination, the discussion regarding the suitable candidate for his successor is getting intensified. As it stands, ex-cricketer and 1983 World Cup winner Roger Binny is reported to be the front-runner in the race.

Meanwhile, former India coach Ravi Shastri has termed Binny an ideal candidate for the position. Shastri, once Binny's teammate in the national team, heaped praise on the 67-year-old for his legacy as a player and administrator and also threw some light on his dynamic personality.

Here's how Shastri reacted to Binny's potential appointment as the BCCI president

"I'm delighted because he was my colleague in the World Cup. I'm extremely happy because he is a World Cup winner, who's the president for the first time in the history of the BCCI. His credentials are unquestionable. He's got all the boxes ticked to take up this post,"

"Binny is a very amiable guy, he has got a mind of his own. He might not be a flippant type, but when he opens his mouth, I'm sure that he'll be heard, especially on cricketing matters."

Shastri's expectations from Binny, the BCCI president

Shastri expected his former colleague to upgrade the Indian grounds to ensure better experience for the spectators.

"One area that he would look into and Indian cricket must look into is the fact that you have to make Indian cricket a spectator-friendly sport, so for me, the most important thing is that the facilities at the ground should be upgraded big time."
