Bangladeshi batting superstar Tamim Iqbal has formally placed a request to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) wherein he stated that he wishes not to be a part of the list of renewed central contracts for the upcoming calendar year. An unknown source from BCB has claimed that the Chattogram-based cricketer is expected to decide on his international career following a discussion with BCB president Nazmul Hassan.

Tamim last featured in international cricket for Bangladesh in a 3-match ODI series against New Zealand at home prior to the ODI World Cup. Subsequently, an internal controversy ensued between Tamin and the board right before the start of the World Cup where Shakib forced him to opt out of the showpiece event following a disagreement.

Jalal Yunus, the chairman of BCB cricket operations, has officially confirmed the most recent update to journalists today, as reported by Cricbuzz.

"Tamim said he has his own plan and therefore he requested us not to include him in the central contract list. He (Tamim) is supposed to meet the BCB president after the national election to decide the next course of action. Till then we have to wait."

The start cricketer has only played one solitary Test match and 12 ODI’s this year. After making a U-turn on his retirement call, Tamim cleared rumors about his career by making himself available for the upcoming Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) due to take place in January next year.

The BCB is expected to finalize the list of centrally contracted players before December 31 following close consultation with the board president.
