The Afghan superstar, Rashid Khan, has suffered a personal loss, as his elder brother, Haji Abdul Islam Shinwari, passed away. Notably, the Afghan star is currently on national duty playing a T20I tri-series against Pakistan and the UAE.

Rashid Khan's Lost His Elder Brother

Many of Rashid Khan's teammates shared the news on their X-handle and extended their condolences. The Pakistan team has won hearts with their gesture towards Rashid after the match. Most members of the Pakistan team were seen praying alongside Rashid after the match. Star pacer, Shaheen Afridi, was seen hugging and consoling the Afghan spinner.

Rashid Khan's teammate and opening batter of Afghanistan, Ibrahim Zadran, posted his condolences on his X handle. Former Afghanistan international, Asghar Afghan, was also seen extending his prayers to Rashid Khan and his family. It was heartwarming to see his teammates and cricketing fraternity standing beside him during a moment of his emotional crisis.

Afghanistan Failed To Win The First Match Of The ODI Series Despite Rashid's Efforts

Talking about the match, Pakistan and Afghanistan faced off in the first match of the tri-series at the iconic Sharjah Cricket Stadium in the United Arab Emirates. Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat first in the game.

The top three of Pakistan, comprising Shahibzada Farhan, Saim Ayub and Fakhar Zaman, got decent starts, but none of the batters were able to convert them. It was the skipper, Salman Ali Agha, who stood up for the team and showed great resilience. He scored 53 runs off 36 deliveries and propelled the team towards a respectable total. At the end of their 20 overs, Pakistan scored 182/7.

In the chase, Ibrahim Zadran fell early, but Rahmanullah Gurbaz gave his best to lay the foundation. His partnership with Sediqullah Atal was crucial in stabilising the team. After the opener's dismissal, there was another small partnership between Rasooli and Atal, but soon it was broken.

Afghanistan suffered a collapse after this and completely fell away from the chase. They lost five wickets, adding only four runs to the total. After this, Rashid Khan played a fiery cameo of 39 runs off 16 deliveries, but it was not enough to get them past the target.
