Rashid Khan not thinking about managing his workload amid franchise cricket's commitments

Afghanistan ace spinner Rashid Khan feels that he is not thinking about managing his workload as they get to play only a handful of Test matches in a year.

In recent times, players have been vocal about taking frequent breaks from the game in order to keep themselves mentally fit. England captain Ben Stokes retired from ODI cricket due to the tight scheduling and New Zealand speedster Trent Boult revealed that he will be playing less cricket to spend more time with his family. There is a sudden awareness amongst players to manage their workloads.

Speaking to ESPN Cricinfo, the Afghan cricketer emphasised the need for every cricketer to realize how much their body can bear. With Afghanistan's schedule being relatively less busy than other Test-playing nations like India, Australia, and England, Rashid feels that this reason allows him to play in numerous T20 leagues around the globe.

"As a player, you always need to have it in your mind, how much cricket can I play? How much load can by body take? That is very important. We don't have that kind of busy schedule for international matches where we play lots of Tests. We don't play five or 10 Tests in a year,"

Rashid, a T20 globetrotter said that he would have liked to play more Test cricket for his nation.

"If that was the case for me, then definitely I would have picked a few leagues where I can take myself and play more for my national team,"

After gaining the Test status, Afghanistan has only played five Tests since playing their first Test against India. Rashid would be hoping to play more games in the oldest and purest form of Cricket.
