The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) have named a strong 18-member national squad for the upcoming T20 International series against the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Star player and T20I captain Rashid Khan misses out after being unavailable for selection due to a recent back surgery.

Instead, hard-hitting batter Ibrahim Zadran has been appointed as stand-in skipper for the three-T20, which begins today (December 29), where all matches will be played at Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

ACB and selectors have included pacers like FazalHaq Farooqi and Naveen Ul Haq, who had their T20 NOCs cancelled earlier this month and have now reaffirmed their commitment to national duties.

The squad is a blend of youth and experience with the likes of Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Mohammad Nabi, Karim Janat, Mohammad Ishaq, Azmaullah Omarzai, Noor Ahmad, and Najibullah Zadran included.

The ACB has also decided to send reserved players for the series, which include Khan, Ijaz Ahmad Ahmadzai, Ikram Alikhil, and Gulbadin Naib.
