'Not His Natural Style' - Former Indian Cricketer On Debutant Prasidh Krishna's Bowling vs SA

Making a return from a long injury layoff, pacer Prasidh Krishna earned his maiden Test cap in the ongoing first Test against South Africa at Centurion.

However, Krishna did not have a dream start to his Test career, as South African batters tore into the debutant on Day 2. Despite having helpful conditions, the 27-year-old struggled to find line and length and leaked runs on both sides of the wicket, as the bowler gave away 10 fours in as many overs.

Krishna managed to pick his maiden Test scalp, claiming Kyle Verreynne's wicket in the final session of play on Day 2, to end the day with figures of 1 for 61 in 15.

In his post-day review, former India international Sanjay Manjrekar felt bad for the debutant Krishna, who had it rough with not being permitted to bowl as per his liking. Speaking to Star Sports, the cricketer-turned-commentator explained the difference in Krishna's bowling in his first and second spell.

Here's what Manjrekar said

"You have got to feel for him, because you got the impression that he was asked to do something that is not his natural style. If you see the way he bowled his last spell, you could see he is comfortable hitting the deck, just like a South African bowler.

When he bowled his first spell, I guess the requirement from the team was to pitch the ball up. They were obsessed with getting the ball up and getting the batters to drive. That is where he struggled. But, once he got into his zone, in the end, we saw what he likes to do."

Krishna will be crucial for India on Day 3 as Rohit Sharma and Co. will look to wrap up South Africa's innings quickly and try to limit the lead below 100.
