Ranji Trophy Final 2022 | Mumbai vs Madhya Pradesh | Preview, Probable XI and Match Details

Prithvi Shaw’s Mumbai is on the quest for another domestic title. They will be looking to extend their rampaging form against a high-flying Madhya Pradesh side in the upcoming Ranji Trophy 2022 final.

Madhya Pradesh has been perennial underachievers in the competition, and this is their first title clash since the 1999 edition of the tournament.

A win for Mumbai will hand them their 42nd Ranji Trophy title. They are one of the most decorated domestic teams in the world, with 41 Ranji Trophy titles. They are only behind Australia’s New South Wales, which has 47 Sheffield Shield trophies.

On the other hand, Madhya Pradesh will be looking to seal its first-ever trophy in any Indian domestic competition. The upcoming final marks only the second instance where they have reached a Ranji final, having previously lost to Karnataka in 1999.

Ranji Trophy 2022: Mumbai and MP’s journey to the finals

Mumbai’s 2022 campaign has been as dominant as it gets. They swept through their Elite Group D matches with massive wins over Odisha and Goa. Later, they butchered Uttarakhand by 725 runs in the quarter-final and sailed past Uttar Pradesh in the semis on the first innings count.

Much like Mumbai, the Aditya Shrivastava-led Madhya Pradesh has also enjoyed an unbeaten run this year. They topped their Elite Group A points table and registered heavy wins over Punjab and Bengal in the two knockout games before the summit clash.
