In a heartwarming scene for Rajasthan Royals fans, head coach Rahul Dravid and current director of cricket Kumar Sangakkara were seen enjoying a casual outing together in Jaipur. Although the legendary cricketers never had the chance to bat for the same team, they were spotted holding bats and playing some casual knocks on a turf. 

Both Rahul and Sangakkara have been instrumental in shaping the Royals' cricketing philosophy. As Dravid returned to the role of head coach nine years later, Sangakkara, the director of Rajasthan Royals, seemed to bond with 'The Wall' over a quick casual batting session.

Dravid and Sangakkara Bonds Over Bat

The veteran duo took a break from their busy schedules to unwind and reminisce about their shared passion for the game. In a clip shared by Rajasthan Royals on their social media handle X, the duo was seen batting together. The caption for the post read, "52,170 international runs between them, but you still can’t stop them from stealing quick singles," as Sangakkara attempted a quick drive while Dravid ran towards him for a quick single.

Dravid, who recently stepped down as head coach of the Indian national team, has returned to the Royals as their new head coach for the upcoming IPL season. His return has generated much excitement among fans, who are eager to see him guide the team to success once again.

Sangakkara, who has been with the Royals since 2021, has played a crucial role in developing young talents and fostering a winning mentality within the franchise. His experience and knowledge of the game have been invaluable to the team's success. It is worth mentioning that Sangakkara himself has played 71 matches in the IPL boasting 1687 runs at a strike rate of 121.19.

With Rajasthan Royals making important player retention decisions and strategic buys like Nitish Rana, Wanindu Hasaranga and Maheesh Theekshana in the IPL mega auction, including the emerging talent Vaibhav Suryavanshi, both Dravid and Sangakkara will aim to secure the second IPL title for their franchise in the 2025 edition.
