Indian head coach Rahul Dravid has lauded modern-day legend Virat Kohli as a legend across all cricket formats on his 35th birthday, marking the occasion with high praise ahead of a crucial World Cup 2023 match against South Africa at Eden Gardens.

Rahul Dravid hailed Virat Kohli's influence on the upcoming generation of cricketers

Dravid, a legend in his own right, extolled Kohli's exceptional ability to finish matches and maintain a high standard of performance consistently over the years, highlighting his influence in setting benchmarks for his generation of cricketers. This accolade from Dravid shows the immense respect Kohli commands in the cricketing fraternity.

"Virat Kohli is a Legend of the Game. He is a Legend in all formats of the game. The way he able to finish matches, the standard of his performances over the years is probably set the benchmark for his generation of cricketers," said Dravid.

Meanwhile, Kohli, currently celebrating his birthday has an impressive record of 48 ODI centuries from 288 matches. His recent ton against Bangladesh in Pune showcased his class, while narrowly missing centuries against New Zealand and Sri Lanka, scoring 95 and 88 respectively.

The 35-year-old now stands on the brink of equalling Sachin Tendulkar's record of ODI centuries, with his next hundred set to be his 49th, a milestone he could potentially achieve on this significant day.

It is worth mentioning that Kohli, who is the third-highest run-scorer in the tournament with 442 runs in 7 matches, has been instrumental in India's successful campaign so far. His performance has been a cornerstone in India's undefeated streak in the tournament, and he is expected to play a vital role in the top-of-the-table clash against South Africa.
