Veer's family overjoyed as uncapped star lands record bid at IPL auction 2026
Earlier, Prashant's family members' reaction in his hometown, Amethi, Uttar Pradesh, went viral after the 20-year-old created history at the IPL 2026 auction in Abu Dhabi.
Speaking to ANI, Prashant's mother, Anjana Tripathi, expressed her happiness and called it a proud moment for her entire family.
"This is very good news. He has made us proud. We are all very happy. I am very happy that my son will play the IPL," she said.
Talking about his cricketing dominance, Veer, a left-arm spinner and middle-order batter, is set to feature in India's premium T20 league for the first time. Notably, in 12 T20s so far, he has scored 112 runs at a strike rate of 167.16 and claimed 12 slaped in nine innings at an economy rate of 6.45.
Thus, after a breakout season in the UP T20 League with Noida Super Kings, Veer is viewed as a long-term option to step into the role which Ravindra Jadeja occupied at Chennai Super Kings, before being traded to Rajasthan Royals.
