The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is set to upgrade the iconic National Stadium in Karachi. As per the latest updates, the board will be starting renovation work for the stadium from November onwards. One of the primary agendas of the PCB regarding the stadium renovation is to remodel its enclosure.
The PCB also renovated the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore in light of the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy earlier this year. The National Stadium also hosted a handful of games in the tournament, which included Pakistan’s opening match against New Zealand.
National Stadium to offer enhanced viewing experience after renovations
As reported by GeoSuper.tv on Tuesday, October 21; the PCB is planning to renovate the National Stadium in Karachi. The board is aiming to implement several measures in a bid to enhance the viewing experience for spectators at the venue.
While the stadium will be benefited with the remodeling of its enclosures, it previously underwent several other changes like the construction of the pavilion, installations of large digital screens as well as LED floodlights. The previous overhauls were performed to prepare the venue for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy. Apart from renovating the National Stadium in Karachi, the PCB also facelifted the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, and the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium for the eight-team ODI tournament.
Additionally, the PCB is now reportedly collaborating with the Capital Development Authority (CDA) in Pakistan in order to construct a new cricket stadium in Islamabad. The management of the stadium will be conducted by the CDA, while the PCB will oversee the cricketing activities for the venue.
As of now, it remains to be seen if the PCB completes its National Stadium renovation in time for the PSL 2026 season next year.
