In a significant turn of events, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has sacked Mohammad Wasim from the chief selector's post. This development came one day after the board appointed Najam Sethi as the chairman, replacing Ramiz Raja.

Wasim was named the selection committee head in January last year. However, Pakistan's recent abysmal performance paved the way for his axing.

Notably, Pakistan team faced massive backlash after losing to Zimbabwe in the T20 World Cup in Australia. Furthermore, they achieved an all time low recently, being whitewashed by England in a three-match Test series.

The defeat was embarrassing for Pakistan, as they were clean-swept for the first time in a Test series in their own country.

Besides the on-field performance, the leadership group emerged as a complete failure in injury management, as many key players, including Haris Rauf, Naseem Shah and Shaheen Shah Afridi missed plenty of cricket due to their respective injuries.

So, after the England series concluded, the PCB finally decided to form a new regime as a means for revamping Pakistan cricket.
