Amidst the ongoing Asia Cup 2023 in Sri Lanka, a couple of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) officials have sparked a fresh controversy. Board’s media officials, namely Umer Farooq Kalson and Adnan Ali were recently seen spending time at a casino in Colombo.

The incident is quite reminiscent to that of Pakistan’s World Cup 2015 controversy, where then chief selector and team manager Moin Khan was sent back home from New Zealand for attending a casino in Christchurch.

PCB officials likely to land in trouble

All remaining Asia Cup 2023 fixtures are slated to be played at the iconic R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Ahead of Pakistan’s all-important Super Four clash against arch-rivals India, PCB media officials Umer Farooq Kalson and Adnan Ali were seen having a good time at a casino with the city.

If PCB’s history is any indication, Umer Farooq Kalson and Adnan Ali’s little joyride might well land them in trouble.

Back during the 2015 World Cup hosted by Australia and New Zealand, the then Pakistan manager and former cricketer Moin Khan was sent back home because he attended a casino in Christchurch. He was sacked midway into the tournament by then PCB chairman Shaharyar Khan.

In the meantime, the Pakistan cricket team is currently engaged in a Super Four tussle with India, Bangladesh and Asia Cup 2023 co-hosts Sri Lanka.

Under Babar Azam’s leadership, the ‘Men in Green’ thumped Nepal and Bangladesh with convincing margins and are currently one of the leading contenders to book a place in the finals.
