The English cricket team is set to tour Pakistan after a gap of 17 years. Earlier this year, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed that their home series against England will commence in September, with a T20 World Cup sandwiched between seven T20Is and a Test series.

PCB’s former CEO Wasim Khan believes England tour will be crucial

PCB’s former CEO Wasim Khan visited Rotterdam to watch the first ODI between Pakistan and hosts Netherlands. While speaking to the journalists, he said that Pakistan’s next month home series against England will be crucial as its success can restore more international team tours to the cricket-starved nation.

Khan also spoke about this year’s Australia trip to Pakistan and described it as a “stepping milestone” for the country. He said:

“Australia tour to Pakistan was a stepping milestone for the country. It proved that the country was safe for all the cricket activities. Moreover, this year’s England tour to Pakistan will be crucial. It will further strengthen the image of Pakistan moving forward.”

The Three Lions will be playing seven T20Is, with matches to be held across Karachi and Lahore between September 20 and October 2. The series will also serve as a testing ground for both sides ahead of the T20 World Cup in Australia in the same month.

The tournament will be followed by England’s return trip to Pakistan, this time for three Tests, with series set to constitute matches for the ongoing ICC World Test Championship.
