Pakistan, on Tuesday, August 16, edged past the Netherlands by 16 runs in the first ODI of the three-match series at Hazelaarweg to go 1-0 up in the series.

However, despite posting a mammoth 314 runs while batting first, the visitors couldn't pose any serious threat to the home team as the Netherlands fell only 16-run short of the target.

Weighing in on the same, skipper Babar Azam conceded that the visitors weren't quite up to the mark in the series opener against the Netherlands and there was huge room for improvement.

Azam, who himself played a swashbuckling knock of 74 runs further lavished praise on opener Fakhar Zaman for his sensational run-a-ball 109.

“I am relieved. Fakhar scored a lovely century. The wicket was double-paced. We should have done better. These are challenging conditions. There was a bit of moisture on the wicket,”
