Amitabh Choudhary served as the acting BCCI secretary until 2019, before serving as the chairman of the Jharkhand State Cricket Association.

He was an influential figure behind the JSCA Stadium and played a key role in the development of the state’s cricketing infrastructure.

Choudhary, an ex-IPS, was also the manager of the Indian men’s team. One of his assignments with the Indian team included the ‘Men in Blue’ tour of Zimbabwe in 2005-06, which is cited by many as the tipping point of the fallout between Sourav Ganguly and then-Indian coach Greg Chappell.

Ex-Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh expressed his condolences over the demise of the former manager. The legendary spinner took to Twitter and described Choudhary as an “able cricket administrator” who “left his imprint on the game”.
