Australian cricket stalwart Pat Cummins has announced his decision to re-enter the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction for the upcoming season. Cummins, currently at the helm as Australia's ODI captain, is eager to make his mark in the T20 format and believes the IPL provides the ideal platform for his preparations.

The fast bowler had earlier withdrawn from his high-profile IPL contract with the Kolkata Knight Riders earlier this year, citing the demanding international schedule. However, Cummins is now keen to delve into T20 cricket and showcase his prowess in the IPL ahead of the global T20 extravaganza.

The KKR had acquired Cummins for Rs 7.5 crore in the 2022 IPL auction.

Here's what he said:

"I feel like I haven’t played a heap of T20 cricket and in some ways I feel like I haven’t played my best T20 cricket for a little while."

He further added

"I'm really excited, I'm probably going to go into the IPL auction for next year to try to get some games before that World Cup and push a case to not only make the side but get back to how I feel like I can bowl in T20 cricket."

Currently leading Australia in the ICC World Cup 2023, Cummins is gearing up for the semi-final clash against South Africa at Eden Gardens on November 16.
