Led by Shubman Gill, India are set to take on England in the second Test of the ongoing five-match series. The high-octane face-off will be played at the iconic Edgbaston in Birmingham.

Meanwhile, prominent players from both sides —Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rishabh Pant, Joe Root, Jasprit Bumrah, and Shubman Gill — eye prolific milestones in this much-awaited encounter.

Rishabh Pant aims to surpass Kohli in huge record

Talismanic batter Virat Kohli has the second-highest number of tons (5) for India against England in Test cricket. Interestingly, swashbuckling batter Rishabh Pant also has struck five Test centuries against the Englishmen. He recently slammed two successive hundreds in the Leeds Test, placing himself among the legends of Indian cricket.

Thus, if Pant scores another century at Edgbaston, he will overtake Kohli and join Mohammad Azharuddin in most tons for India in Test matches against England.

Root Could become 1st player to score 3000 runs in India vs England Tests

Legendary England cricketer Joe Root is the most successful batter in India versus England Tests, having amassed 2927 runs. Thus, he needs only 73 runs to script history and become the first-ever batter to register 3000 Test runs in bilateral contests between both teams.

Jaiswal could become fastest Indian to 2000 Test runs

Young Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has already raced to 1903 runs in 20 Test matches. If he scores 97 runs in the Edgbaston Test, he will become India's fastest batter, in terms of matches played, to breach the 2000-run mark.

Bumrah could join Wasim Akram for most fifers in SENA Tests

There are doubts looming over Jasprit Bumrah's participation in the Edgbaston Test, with India considering managing his workload amid the hectic five-match series.

However, if Bumrah plays and takes a five-wicket haul, he will surpass Muttiah Muralitharan and join Wasim Akram as the Asian bowler with the most fifers in SENA (South Africa, England, New Zealand and Australia) countries.

Currently, Bumrah has 10 fifers and is only behind Wasim Akram, who bagged eleven five-wicket hauls in the aforementioned countries.

Gill might record joint-most tons as an Indian captain in England

India's newly appointed Test captain, Shubman Gill, had a stellar start to the England tour, amassing a magnificent century at Headingley. If the stylish right-hander slams another ton, he will register the joint-most number of centuries (2) as an Indian captain on English soil.

Currently, Virat Kohli and Mohammad Azharuddin hold the first place, having struck two hundreds each in England.
