Pakistan speedster, Mohammad Amir is back where it all clicked for him in county cricket. The left-arm pace ace has rejoined Essex for the 2025 Vitality Blast and fans in Chelmsford are buzzing to see him back in the Eagles' nest.

Essex Reunite With Mohammad Amir Ahead Of T20 Blast 2025

At 33, Mohammad Amir may not be the same tearaway teen who rattled stumps at will but he still knows how to swing the ball. And Essex fans haven’t forgotten what he brought to the table the last time he wore their colours.

From 2017 to 2019, Amir picked up 24 wickets in 21 matches for the club. Most memorably, he played a key role in their glorious 2019 season when Essex completed the double by lifting both the County Championship and the T20 Blast trophy.

PSL Form And International Record

Coming into this season, Amir has some decent mileage under his belt. He has featured for Quetta Gladiators in the ongoing Pakistan Super League and grabbed seven wickets in six matches so far.

On the international stage, his T20I numbers speak volumes. 71 wickets at 21.64 across 62 games with his last appearance coming in the 2024 T20 World Cup.

Amir Thrilled To Be Back

"I am very excited to join Essex once again. I have always enjoyed my time at this club where I feel at home and the love I received from the team and the amazing supporters was overwhelming. I look forward to contributing to the team and hopefully help the club achieve success this season,” said Amir.

He will be donning the No.5 shirt and is available throughout the group stage of the Blast, with a chance of sticking around if Essex go deep into the knockouts.

Chris Silverwood, now Essex’s Director of Cricket and the man who originally brought Amir to Chelmsford in 2017, is delighted to have the left-armer back in the fold.

"We are thrilled to welcome Mo back to Chelmsford and are very excited to see him in Essex colours again. I know the experience and skillset he brings having worked with him here before. He will certainly strengthen what is an already strong squad for our T20 Blast campaign this season,” said Silverwood.

With their pace stocks looking sharp and Amir's return adding firepower, Essex will be eyeing another deep run in T20 Blast 2025. And with Amir back in town, it wouldn’t be a surprise if Chelmsford sees some old-school swing and sizzle this summer.
