One of Pakistan's all-time greats, Mushtaq Ahmed is all set to be appointed as Bangladesh's spin-bowling coach for the upcoming Test series against his home nation, Pakistan.

Mushtaq, previously worked as Bangladesh's spin-bowling supervisor during the recently concluded T20 World Cup in USA/West Indies, and had recently taken up the coaching role with England's Under-19 side.

The former Pakistan leg-spinner is available for the upcoming Test series, as confirmed by BCB's Cricket Operations Chairman, Jalal Younus.

“He is available for the Pakistan series,” Younus stated. “He has some programmes, so he will be busy till December.”

Younus also stated that Bangladesh are trying to lure Mushtaq into a long-term coaching role with the national team.

“We are trying to have a long-term contract with him after January. We are not sure if he is available and if we will certainly get his service, but we will try our best. We are indeed getting positive vibes.”

In Mushtaq's previous stint with the BCB, he helped honing the skills of the Bangladesh spinners, particularly Rishad Hossain, who made a name for himself in the T20 World Cup.

The Tigers will face a tough test when they tour Pakistan for a two-match Test series. The first match at Rawalpindi will take place from August 21, while the second Test will be hosted by Karachi from August 30.
