In a massive development, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) could pull out of the upcoming Asia Cup scheduled in September. As reported by PTI, as many as three boards — Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Afghanistan — have rejected PCB's proposed 'Hybrid Model', which stated that Pakistan would conduct four matches at home with all other games, involving India, being played at a neutral venue.

BCCI's stance about not travelling to Pakistan has spiralled into this mess that the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) needs to decide on. As per a source, the BCB, ACB and SLC have made their views clear, and the ACC will call upon a meeting soon.

Here's what the source said

''It is just a formality now that the Asian Cricket Council executive board members meet virtually or a proper meeting is called later this month. But the PCB is now aware that Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan are not backing their hybrid model proposal for the Asia Cup."

PCB Chairman Najam Sethi has maintained that Pakistan will pull out if the hosting right is taken away and the tournament is held in a neutral nation. The source further said that the onus now lies on PCB to decide.

''Pakistan only has two options. Play the tourney at neutral venue or withdraw."

The source also added that Asia Cup could be scrapped as well if things don't fall into place, mainly because due to broadcasters who demand India and Pakistan matches and will renegotiate if PCB does pull out.

Meanwhile, the BCCI could also plan a five-nation ODI tournament if Asia Cup is indeed cancelled.
