ICC In All Eagerness To Pull Out T20 World Cup 2024 From West Indies, USA; England to Host The Event - Reports

In a shocking development, it has been understood that the International Cricket Council (ICC) has decided to pull out the T20 World Cup 2024 from the West Indies and the United States of America due to a lack of cricketing infrastructure in the latter nation. If the reports are believed, England will gain the hosting right to conduct the first T20 global event since 2009.

As per a report published by News18 CricketNext, the ICC has requested England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) to swap the T20 World Cup of 2030 - which was allotted to England, Ireland and Scotland - with the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) and the United States of America Cricket Association (USACA).

If both parties agree with the proposed move, then West Indies and America will get ample time to build the required infrastructure to host the 20-nation tournament.

"The current infrastructure situation in the USA is not very encouraging and it is likely that the ICC could well swap the hosts for 2024 and 2030 edition of the event. It will also allow USA Cricket to get the infrastructure in order before 2030 and allow them to set the house in order too," a source close to News18 CricketNext said.

West Indies, who last hosted an ICC competition in 2010, has at least eight international standard venues. However, as of yet, their co-host only has one that can host a T20I fixture. Aside from Lauderhill, neither Los Angeles, Indianapolis, nor Texas has the infrastructure to host a global event as big as the T20 World Cup.

Interestingly, the nation is about to inaugurate its franchise-based tournament - the Major Cricket League (MLC 2023), for which they have signed celebrated names such as Jason Roy Quinton de Kock, Aaron Finch, Anrich Nortje, Lungi Ngidi, and a lot more. 

However, if ICC pulls out of the forthcoming T20 World Cup from America, it would leave a massive dent in their image when they are trying to make cricket an enormous deal in their country.
