After a long gap of 17 years, England will take on Pakistan in their backyard in a seven-match T20I series. A precursor to England's ICC T20 World Cup 2022 campaign, this series provides the best chance for the visitors to oil their side.

The Three Lions will miss the services of Jos Buttler in most of the T20Is due to an injury and will see Moeen Ali captain the team in the former's absence.

Ali, whose family lineage is from Pakistan, wrote in his column for the Daily Mail about how special he feels about leading his adopted nation in the land of his forefathers.

This is what Moeen Ali wrote

"When my grandfather Shafayat came to England from Pakistan after the Second World War, I doubt even he would have imagined that his grandson would return to the country of his heritage and represent his adopted country as a professional sportsman,"

"I have been privileged enough to do many overseas trips as an England cricketer from Australia to South Africa to the Caribbean but this tour to Pakistan might be the most special of the lot."

Ali, 35, has played cricket in Pakistan for the Multan Sultans in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) explained his experience thus far and how he and teammate Adil Rashid felt.

"Quite a few of the squad, including myself, have played in the PSL and trust me, the love and the passion for the game in this area of the world is second to none. I have been here a few times now but sharing this journey with Adil Rashid, who is also of Pakistani heritage, was a particularly proud moment."

The first match of the series will be played in Karachi on September 20.
