Naseem Shah made his T20I debut against arch-rivals India at the recently-concluded Asia Cup 2022. In his maiden outing in the format itself, the speedster claimed the key wickets of KL Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav. Moreover, the cricketer struck two final-over sixes to seal a win against Afghanistan later in the same tournament.

Shah’s heroics earned him a return call-up to the national side, this time for a home series against England. Ahead of the series, the 19-year-old said that he has always believed in clinching key moments of the game since they hold more value to the team.

While speaking with Geo News, Shah emphasised on the importance of team’s requirement. He stated that as a bowler, he likes to take wickets which would matter to his team the most.

The cricketer also expressed his excitement of playing against England at home ahead of the T20 World Cup next month. The youngster is expecting a fair contest between the two sides, especially after Pakistan’s stellar runners-up campaign at the Asia Cup 2022. He said:

“As a bowler, I've to go after every batter but it is important to work according to the team's requirements, the wicket you take when the team needs it the most holds more value than other wickets and those are always special for me.”

“It is always exciting to play against a top side on your home soil, I am hopeful of a fair contest between the two sides, we are arriving here from the Asia Cup with good form, so it will be a fruitful series.”

The first of the seven T20I matches between Pakistan and England is slated to be played at Karachi on September 20. The series itself serves as a testing ground for both sides before the T20 World Cup in Australia next month.
