Seasoned all-rounder Grace Harris has been ruled out of the Australia Women squad for the upcoming 2025 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup in India and Sri Lanka. The 32-year-old recently injured her calf while fielding during Australia’s series-deciding third ODI match against India Women in Delhi last week.

Cricket Australia has now named fellow all-rounder Heather Graham as a like-for-like replacement for injured Harris, as Australia aim to keep their title defence on track and chase a record-extending crown in the subcontinent.

Heather Graham returns to ODI stage after six years for WC

Heather Graham has been fast-tracked into the Australia Women squad for the upcoming 2025 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup as an injury replacement for senior pro Grace Harris. Heather has so far played just a solitary ODI for Australia, dating back October 2019 during a home series against Sri Lanka in Brisbane, thus making this call-up her return to the ODI stage after a gap of six years.

That said, the soon-to-be 29-year-old remains a formidable T20 globetrotter, having honed her skills across the WBBL in Australia as well as in The Hundred in English conditions. The cricketer was also a part of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) franchise earlier this year during the WPL 2025 season in India.

Australia to begin title-defence on October 1

Australia, winners of the 2022 Women’s World Cup, will commence their title-defense on October 1 with a game against antipodean rivals New Zealand in Indore. The seven-time World Cup winners will be led by legendary wicketkeeper-batter Alyssa Healy, who will be accompanied by the likes of fellow star attractions like Ashleigh Gardner, Beth Mooney, Annabel Sutherland and Elyse Perry among others.
