Fast Bowler Matt Henry has marked his return to the 15-member New Zealand ODI squad to face Australia in the three-match ODI series. The matches are slated to take place from September 6 to 11 at Cazaly's Stadium, Cairns.

Henry is a key addition to the talented Kiwi squad, which secured a series victory in the 50-over format against West Indies last week. Interestingly, the 30-year-old is the top wicket-taker (12 scalps) for New Zealand in the ODI format this year.

Ben Sears, who served as the replacement for Henry in the last series has been retained for this assignment as well. The strong showing in the Caribbean Tour has helped Glenn Phillips to be one of the members of the touring party as well.

Kane Williamson, who missed the last fixtures of the ODI series against West Indies will lead the team on this Tour.

Key bowler Trent Boult is also a part of the squad.

The experienced spinner Ish Sodhi failed to find his place in the squad, as have Henry Nicholls and Will Young.

On the other hand, Kyle Jamieson and Adam Milne are unavailable due to injury concerns.

Kane Williamson speaks up on the Trans-Transman rivalry

“It’s a great rivalry we have with Australia; it’s always a huge occasion for the fans, and the team really look forward to it,” said Williamson.

“You grow up watching the Chappell-Hadlee Trophy series and remembering the great battles, so to be part of another chapter is pretty special.

“We know how tough Australia are to beat in their own conditions and we’re looking forward to the challenge.”
